Steve went to bed after a day of working in his garden with his wife, Alice, and passed away peacefully during his sleep, on the morning of April 11, 2022. Steve was born in the city of Chicago on March 22, 1954. He was the third and youngest child of Elizabeth and William Olevich. Steve attended St. Adrian Grammar School and graduated from Leo High School in 1972. In this time he developed a love for all things music and found a job at the Secretary of State Office. It was here where Steve met his future wife, Alice. In a few years time, he played in the band, QT Hush, and played shows around Chicago and had the time of his life. Steve married Alice in 1979 at the St. Nicholas of Tolentine Catholic Church surrounded by his loved ones. They had three children together: Stephanie in 1981, Matthew in 1987, and Daniel in 1990. He was also known for being the provider of snacks and candy for the children in the family. Steve’s hobbies included recording and listening to music, his favorite bands being The Beatles and Black Sabbath. He was a handyman and tinkerer with all things electronic. An avid collector, he enjoyed collecting records and music of all genres. Most of all, his favorite thing to do was spend time at home with his family and cats, he was a true cat whisperer. His favorite foods were Mexican, Chinese, and seafood; he was also a hot sauce aficionado. Steve had a passion for Native American culture, often reading about their history and leaders; feeling a connection to their way of life. He was a longtime donor to the St. Joseph Native American school. Steve was preceded in death by Elizabeth, his mother; William, his father; Irene, his sister-in-law; William Jr., his brother; and Susan, his sister. Steve is survived by Alice, his wife; Stephanie, his daughter; Matthew (Tisha) and Daniel (Jill), his sons; and Gwen and Hugo, his grandchildren.
