Pat “Jim” O’Hara 88 of Palos Heights, formerly of Burbank and born of Tullycusheen Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo Ireland, passed away peacefully at home with family at his side on Sunday afternoon June 21st. Loving husband of Peggy (nee Dahill) for 15 years and the late Bernadette (nee Doherty) for 37 years. Cherished father of Maureen (Tony) Fischinger, Jim (Pam), the late Michael, Karen (Paul) Lally, Kevin (Michele), Sharon (Pat) O’Hara, Kevin (Donna) Dahill, Noreen Dahill, and Michelle (Matt) Lynn. Devoted Papa of Matt, Reilly, Erin, Colin, Sarah, Claire, Mark, Nora, Declan, Owen, Aiden, Jack, Danielle, Michael, Aileen and Grace. Dear uncle and brother of many. Jim arrived in America in 1955. He was drafted into the Army and proudly served our country from 1957-1959. He was a founding member of Gaelic Park where he enjoyed Ceili dancing and attending their monthly mass luncheon. Jim enjoyed his get togethers with his friends, whether it was playing poker, the Irish card game "25", or bowling every week (which never improved his score). “The Irish Hour” radio show was loudly played every Saturday morning and the kitchen was quickly transitioned into a dance floor. Jim was a member of the Irish Pioneer Society, pledging to abstain from alcohol at confirmation age 12 until the age of 18. Jim continued his pledge and remained true to his vow his entire life. Jim was fortunate to have had two wonderful marriages. The first in 1962 to Bernadettewhose gregarious nature led to a houseful of laughter and love. He was fortunate to have good friends introduce him to Peggy and their blessed union began in 2004. Jim found in Peggy a similar kind, gentle and loving partner and their families blended together well. They enjoyedtraveling and spending time with family, especially their cherished grandkids. Jim was an honest friend, a strong Christian and a loving husband, father and papa. He will be deeply missed by family and friends alike.
