Norbert J. Czajka, age 67, passed away in his home surrounded by his loved ones, on March 2, 2020. He was taken too soon from a quick and unexpected battle with cancer. Norbie was born in Brighton Park and was raised by his mother Helen, whom he adored. He never forgot his Polish roots and was proud to have grown up on Richmond street. He was a man of many words. In fact, he could talk for hours on any given subject. To be in his company was truly a gift and often very entertaining. Norbie was a card carrying Die Hard Cubs fan. He supported his Cubbies through thick and thin. He was the happiest fan on earth when they won the World Series. He had a green thumb and knew numerous varieties of flowers and plants. He took pride in his charming garden. Fishing was his therapy. He was humbled to have his young grandchildren by his side, teaching them all he knows about fishing. Norbie and his family went on several fishing adventures. Norbie enjoyed playing a friendly game of poker with his family and friends. He loved a good cigar and was a Lotto enthusiast. More than anything, he loved spending time with his beautiful family. Norbie adored his devoted wife, MaryEllen, of 46 years. They were high school sweethearts and admirably inseparable. A true never-ending love story. As a father, he deeply loved his daughters, Carrie and Sarah. They were his pride and joy. Respectively, his daughters admired him, as he genuinely was their hero. Norb was also blessed to take on the title of Dziadziu to his four amazing grandchildren: Addyson, Tyler, Eddie, and Mason. He has filled their memories with incredible joy, love, and laughter. Norbie is survived by his wife, MaryEllen (Banasiak). Beloved father to Carrie (Thomas) and Sarah (Robert). Fun-loving Dziadziu to Addyson, Tyler, Eddie, and Mason. Youngest brother to Tom (Mary) and Justine. Uncle to many nieces and nephews, dear brother-in-law, and cherished friend. Visitation will be held at Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home, 11028 Southwest Highway, Palos Hills, IL 60465, on Friday March 6th, from 3pm until 9pm. Chapel Service will be held on Saturday, March 7th at 10am; Interment at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family are greatly appreciated.
