Matthew Blake Memmesheimer

June 28, 1989 — October 2, 2022

Matthew Blake Memmesheimer, 33, died unexpectedly on October 2, 2022 at his home in Oak Lawn, IL. Matt is survived by his parents, Jim and Kathy Memmesheimer; his brother, Michael and sister-in-law Abby Memmesheimer; his sister Laura Memmesheimer; his former spouse Celeste Memmesheimer née Chavez; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Matt was the proud father of his dog Jackson. Matt and Celeste raised him to be the gentlest, most well-behaved pup in the world. Matt was born in Palos Heights on June 28, 1989 to Kathy and Jim Memmesheimer. He graduated from University of Illinois with a bachelor's degree in math and computer science and worked as a software engineer for Salient alongside his cousin Stephen Daudell. Growing up, Matt enjoyed watching endless computer shows with his big brother Mike, much to the dismay of their little sister Laura. He followed in Mike's footsteps by picking up skateboarding and teaching himself how to play guitar. Kathy could sit and listen to Matt play guitar and sing all night long; he knew this and would often play especially for her. Matt was the perfect blend of his parents Jim and Kathy. Everyone who knew him would agree he inherited his dad's impatience, but also his work ethic, his humor, and his love of hockey and the Blackhawks. Similar to both of his siblings, Matt had a few food aversions that can only be attributed to his mom. But in addition, she taught him how to be a kind and loving person, one that would do anything for those who were lucky enough to be in his life. Matt was extremely loved and will be missed by all those who knew him.Family and friends will gather for visitation on Thursday 3-8 p.m. Funeral Friday 9:15 a.m. from Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home 11028 Southwest Hwy.
