It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Ann Elalami nee Grady, on January 7, 2025, at the age of 73, Mary Ann passed away peacefully at her residence in Palos Hills. She was born on May 2, 1951 in Rutherford, TN.,
Loving and devoted mother of Ahmad Elalami and Sarah Elalami, cherished granddaughter Jasmine Munoz, former spouse to Maher Elalami; devoted daughter of the late Samuel and Geraldine nee Chapin Grady; dearest sister to Bill, James and Sharon Grady and the late Joe and Charles Grady; dear aunt to many nieces and nephews; kind friend to any person who shared conversation with her.
“Aunt” Mary was known for an incredible strength in spirit, joyful laughter and amazing stories. As a CNA, and as a person, she will be celebrated for her kindness first approach to people.
Mary Ann was a beacon of love, compassion and creativity. She instilled those traits into her children, who became her life. She was loved and we were lucky to share this life calling her Mom, grandma, sister, aunt, wife and friend. Words do little to express the emotion of her passing, but we will find solace, as she gave us the tools to handle this difficult time. Her legacy, and message, was be who you are and you will always be loved.
A celebration of life for MaryAnn, will be on Saturday January 18th, 2025. It will be held at Orland Park Historic Center, 14314 Union St. Orland Park, IL 60462 between 3pm-6pm. Coffee and snacks will be provided. We ask people to not wear black and not to send flowers.
