Mary Anna Gercius Mary Anna Gercius peacefully passed away at the age of 78 on August 31, 2021. A resident of the Timbers in Palos Hills for 50+ years and a committed member to Sacred Heart Church, she helped deliver 1000+ babies during her tenure as an Obstetric Nurse at St. Anthony Hospital. Actively involved over the years as an Associate of the Sisters of St. Casimir , Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, Knights of Lithuania, American Legion, Palos Hills New Horizons Senior Club, Chicago Council of Catholic Nurses,National Association of Catholic Nurses,St. Anthony Nurses’ Alumni Association, Maria High School Alumni Association, Sacred Heart Fun Club, Sacred Heart ACCW, Mary Anna will be fondly remembered for her never ending smile, contagious laugh, love for life, and compassion to share those with others. She was preceded in death by her father Joseph, mother Helen, brother Bernard Gercius and is survived by her sister Charlotte O’Brenski, sister-in-law Jackie Gercius, nieces and nephews Renee Krizek, Keith Gercius, Joe O’Brenski, Eileen (Tim) Brewer, Janine (Mark) Sanderson, Ryan and Courtney Krizek, Joe and Hope Brewer, AJ and Skyler Sanderson as well as cousins and countless friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 9,2021 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral Friday, September 10,2021 at 9:00 a.m. from Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home 11028 Southwest Hwy. Palos Hills, IL to Sacred Heart Church, Mass 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Casimir Cemetery.
