Jim Pavlatos lost his long and difficult battle with cancer on August 31, 2021. Born in Chicago to Angelo and Stella Pavlatos, he attended Lake Forest College and Loyola Dental School. He enjoyed a very successful dental practice in Palos Heights, specializing in dental implants. His love of Palos Park motivated him to serve as a Palos Park Commissioner for 14 years. Jim had many talents and gifts, all of which he readily shared with others. He was gifted photographer and artist. His photographs are synonymous with the beauty of the Palos area. A permanent exhibit of his works, depicting the historical buildings and some of the most scenic sites of the Palos area hangs in the Kaptur Center with more pieces in the Palos Park Library. His artwork has been featured in several McCord Gallery and Cultural Center exhibits as well as Moraine Valley Community College Juried Community Art shows. Life blessed Jim with an abundance of love, joy, a cherished family, and so many dear friends. Jim is survived by his wife Diann (D.); his children Angela and Michael Obloy and Jeff and Tracy Pavlatos; his grandchildren Leo, Stellan, James Wolfie, Sloan, Stella, and Charlie; his brothers George (Pat) Pavlatos, John (Fran)Gyann, and Denis Dwyer. Services and interment private. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at a later date.
