Jaime J. Hernandez Age 90. Beloved husband of 63 years to Amparo (Toscano Mata). Devoted father of Jaime L. (Leslie) Hernandez, the late Sandra P. Hernandez, Diana (John) Kraft and Dora (Michael) Sokolowski. Proud Grandpa of Maria, Paul (Kasia), Christopher, Peter, Joseph and Marissa. Adored Great Grandfather of Isabella. Dear son of the late Leonardo Hernandez and Enriqueta Torres. Fond brother and uncle of many. Jaime was born and raised in the Back of the Yards and spent majority of his time participating in softball, basketball, bowling, and more. Jaime went on to serve our country and was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1956. Jaime spent his time after his service traveling to Mexico, where he met his beloved wife, Amparo, and proposed just two weeks later. Retired truck driver and member of Teamsters Local 710. Member of the Settlers Social Athletic Club and Mary McDowell Settlement House. Lifelong Chicago Cubs Fan. He spent much of his free time attending games with his son, including Game 3 of the 2016 World Series. Though Jaime had numerous hobbies, his favorite pastime was being with his family. Jaime was always cracking jokes, spending time outside with his children, and playing slots with his wife. He will be dearly missed, but his family is thankful he will be able to enjoy his 5am coffee and pastries with Sandra once again. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home, 11028 Southwest Highway, Palos Hills, IL. From 3 pm until 8 pm. Funeral Wednesday, July 24, 2024, 8:30 a.m. from the Funeral Home to St. Linus Church for 9:30 a.m. Mass, 10300 S. Lawler Ave, Oak Lawn, IL. Interment St. Mary Cemetery, Evergreen Park, IL.
