Francis Anthony Vinseck, age 89 of Chicago, IL passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Holy Cross Hospital in Chicago. Francis was born September 30, 1932 the only child born to Francis and Ann (Mostek) Vinseck in Summit, IL. He attended Kelly High School in Chicago where he met his future wife Dolores playing drums in the school band. He graduated in 1950 and enlisted in the United States Airforce on October 10, 1950 where he served as a member of a B-36 Heavy Bomber Crew in the Korean War and earned several medals including the National Defense Service Medal and Medal of Good Conduct. Francis was honorably discharged from the Airforce on October 18, 1954 after serving 4 years. After his discharge, Francis started with the Illinois Bell Company as a telephone line man, he was promoted to various roles of increased responsibility and after 36 years he retired as a manager and instructor for digital carrier and facilities engineers, he even authored the instructor’s manual for the company. He was hired as a contractor for Ameritech for the following 5 years where he was responsible for building out their central office lab and training center. In his free time, he enjoyed maintaining his pilot’s license as a private pilot, building model airplanes and rockets, and learning to build computers and various electronics. He was an avid Hamm Radio and CB Radio operator and was certified in Morse Code. Beyond working hard, he loved spending time with his wife, family, and friends. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dolores of Chicago, Illinois, his son David Vinseck of Chicago, Illinois, his daughter Linda Havlik of Fort Collins, Colorado, his granddaughter Kathy Havlik of New York, New York, his grandson Robert (Brianna) Havlik and their children William (9) and Hannah (6) all of Fort Collins, Colorado. Private Services will be held for family.
