Catherine Kowalewski

Catherine Kowalewski. passed in peace on November 7, 2018 at the age of 95. Catherine was born on November 8, 1922 to Albert and Helen Novotny in Portage, Pennsylvania. They moved to Chicago, Illinois when she was a small girl and she spent her growing years in the Back of the Yard neighborhood. She married Marion "Chub" Kowalewski on October 17, 1942 and moved to Garfield Ridge Area in the 1950's. She worked many years at Argo Bowl teaching the youth to "bowl". Kay also loved to cook and bake. She shared many recipes and cooked many meals for families and friends. Her pound cake was stellar and cannot be copied.                 She is preceded in death by her husband, Marion, son, Kenneth, great granddaughter, Candice Myrick, siblings, John Novotny, Evelyn Hrebic, Edward Novotny, Jacob Novotny and parents, Albert and Helen Novotny. Family that will miss her dearly are sons, Michael (Joanie), Robert (Shaunna) and Charles (Julie). and Dolores. She was proud of the grandchildren, Patricia (Doug) Brown, Richard Garcia, Anne (Chris) Alcala, Jake (Sara) Kowalewski, Nicole (Quentin) Vaughn, Nicholas Kowalewski, Gabrielle (Isaiah) Unruh, Christopher Barry, Charles Kowalewski, Alex Kowalewski, Brittney Cable and Stephen Kowalewski. She adored her great grandchildren, Juliana, Lucas, Emily, Isabella, Andrew, Lucy, Autumn, Jade, Juliet and Jaxon.  She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Harvey and many nieces and nephews.       The family will receive friends from 3-9 PM on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home, 11028 Southwest Highway (7700W) Palos Hills. Funeral Monday, November 12, 2018, 9 AM from the funeral home to Sacred Heart Church, 8245 W. 111th St. (Palos Hills) for 10 AM Mass. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice and the memory care unit at the Pointe of Kilpatrick for the endless hours and time spent caring for our mom, Catherine.
