Alice Gavaghan

Alice Victoria Gavaghan (nee Klash), 91, of Palos Park, passed away at home with her family around her, on June 16, 2023. She was born in Chicago on December 21, 1931, to the late Walter and Rose Klash of Hollywood, Florida. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Gavaghan. Dear sister to Thomas Klash (Cynthia Hardy). Adored mother to Karen Scherman and Brian Gavaghan (Irena). Loving grandmother to Virginia Stekala (Dariusz) and Victoria Bomba (Mateusz). Fond great-grandmother to Julia, Andrew, and Milena. Much loved aunt to many. From the age of 12, Alice worked in her family’s business, Town of Lake Utilities, later working there with her husband Bob, bringing a new vitality to the business. Alice was a long-time employee of the Chicago Convention Bureau. She had her own boutique at one time in Frankfort, IL. She also had her own radio program in the 60’s called “Back of the Yards Showcase” where she interviewed local and national celebrities. Very well traveled, she loved adventure, laughter and her little dogs. Her beauty, personality and smile won her many friends. She loved movies, opera, and sharing a glass of wine.
