Phil Wengel, age 93. Born in Chicago, son of Lithuanian immigrants, the late Peter and Della Wengel. Married for over 71 years to his beloved Eileen (nee Burns). Dear brother of the late Charles (Stephanie) Wengel and the late Louis (Ruth) Wengel. Fond uncle to many nieces and nephews. World War II veteran and Purple Heart recipient, having served under General George Patton as a member of the 4th Armored Division during the Battle of the Bulge and the war across Europe. Phil worked as an electrical engineer, primarily in advanced water systems operations. He was known for his gourmet cooking and extravagant parties. He also was an avid traveler, sailor, and reader.
