Joseph “Joe” Inovskis, age 53, passed away on July 3, 2017 of congestive heart failure. Beloved brother to Eleanor, Otto (Eddie), Molly, Frank, Ray, Stan, Emily, Rita and John, brother Joe was considered a close family member by dozens of friends who had the joy of experiencing his positive attitude and engaging personality. A native of Chicago, Joe was born in the Roseland neighborhood, raised in Marquette Park and most recently was a resident of Chicago’s River North area.
An outstanding athlete from an early age in baseball, basketball and football, Joe became a dominant presence in the Chicagoland volleyball community where he was known as “Joey the Hook” for his unique and effective spiking style. After retiring as an active player, Joe was also a valued coach and respected certified volleyball referee.
The first member of his family to graduate from college, Joe received a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Loyola University of Chicago in 1992 after working his way through high school and college. He pursued several careers, achieving success in sales in the insurance and real estate industries.
Despite several health related setbacks in recent years, Joe maintained a positive attitude and spent his time optimistically planning for the future.
He will be deeply missed and remembered by all the friends and family whose lives he enriched.
