Doris Eileen Cass (nee Portner) , eleven years shy of turning one hundred, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2017.
Beloved wife of the late Thomas F. Cass, Sr., loving mother of Eileen Yankee (Richard), Thomas F. Cass, Jr. (Kathryn), Dean Cass (Barbara), Craig Cass (April), and Patricia Coomer (Joe).
Dearest grandmother of Steven, Dani, Jeffrey, David, Pamela, Todd, and Jessica.
Great grandmother of Jayson, Julian, and Justin.
Step grandmother of Latasha, Jacob, and Cassi.
Doris was born in Chicago, IL on March 4, 1928 to her late parents Marguerite and Ernest Portner.
On February 4, 1945 Doris married the love of her life Thomas (Frank) on Navy Pier in Chicago, IL.
Doris worked in retail and retired after more than 25 years from Montgomery Ward.
Doris was an avid cat lover and always made sure there was food on her deck for the cats, possums, and raccoons that visited nightly.
Doris was also a huge Elvis Presley fan and memorabilia could be seen throughout her home.
Visitation is Thursday, July 6th from 10 am until 12:30 pm followed by a chapel service in the funeral home and then interment at Glen Oaks Cemetery in Hillside.
