Florence M. Paloucek, R.N. (nee Fries) 87, of Palos Park, formerly of Riverside, IL. passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014. Florence was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 18, 1926 to the late Florence Mary (nee Conlisk) and the late John Fries. Sister of Robert (the late Rhea) Fries, the late Lucille ( the late Robert) Fritsch, John (Henrietta) Fries and the late Joan (Ed) Doyle. She attended Loretto High School and studied nursing at Loyola University. She married Dr. Frank Paloucek, M.D. September 3, 1949. Florence worked as a neonatal nurse at MacNeal Hospital for over 20 years after her husband's death in 1973. She enjoyed participating in bridge clubs and reading. She was unassuming, devoted, well-travelled and knowledgeable. In later years she lived for Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Downtown Abbey, the news and events of her children, grandchildren and great grandchild. Florence is survived by her children Frank (Sharon), Mary (John) Broderick, Joanne (Henry) Baker, Catherine and John. Grandmother of Angela (Will) Knott, Larry, Claire , Amanda (Paul), Margaret (Alex), Tess, Russell , Robert, Michael and John. Great grandmother of Amelia. Fond aunt to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Dr. Frank Paloucek, M.D., daughter, Jean (Jim Church). Memorial Mass Saturday, Nov. 1st, 11 30AM at Sacred Heart Church, 8245 W. 111th St., Palos Hills, IL 60465. Memorial donations may be made in Florence's name to the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, P.O. Box 508, Wheaton, IL 60187. Private interment Oak Ridge Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois.
