Sister Mary Veronetta Kazlauskas, SSC, 96, beloved member of the Sisters of St. Casimir for 71 years, died October 29, 2013 after a short illness. Sister Veronetta, a native of Lithuania, immigrated to the United States as a young girl and settled in Chicago. She ministered at Maria High School in Chicago, Holy Family Villa in Palos Park, and Saints Peter and Paul Parish in Chicago. For many years she served at Villa Joseph Marie and St. Joseph Home in Holland, PA. Sister Veronetta is survived by her niece Mariann Machay and her nephew Anthony Kazwell. Her parents, Stanley and Veronica Kazlauskas, brother Anthony (Valeria), and Sisters Stella Raudis and Anna Kaunietis) preceded her in death. Visitation at the Sisters of St. Casimir Motherhouse, 2601 W. Marquette Road, Chicago, Sunday, November 3, 2013, 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by Vespers. Mass of Resurrection, Monday, November 4, 10:00 a.m. at the Motherhouse Chapel. Interment, St. Casimir Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SSC Retirement Fund. 773-776-1324.
